Supporting our personal health is a true way to practice self-love. But, many times, we get so absorbed in our busy lives that we forget to take care of our well-being. This may not impact us in the short-run; however, in the long run, it exposes us to different types of health problems. Why not make a commitment to showing love for yourself with these seven simple tips to help you maintain optimal well-being despite your busy schedule.
Start your day with physical activities like dancing and exercise:
We all know that physical activities are essential for good health. Still, we find it challenging to take some time for physical activities because of our busy schedules. Now that we have taken the pledge, we have to make time for physical activities; this is the only choice. Further, once we carry on with the different things we have to do on a particular day, it is nearly impossible to break the chain of tasks and perform physical activities like exercise or dancing. So, it is always best to start your day with physical activities before stepping into the flow of different tasks you have to accomplish in a day. You can choose to perform the physical activities you find enjoyable, such as dancing, skipping, and other exercises. Moreover, you can also play different YouTube workout videos to perform different exciting exercises daily. Once you start performing physical activities right away in the morning, not only will your health get improved but you’ll also feel more energetic and happy throughout the day.
Go a little slow through your days:
You’ll agree that today we live a hasty life. We don’t realize that this haste is not suitable for us, and It takes a significant toll on our mental well-being and makes us feel anxious and restless. To prevent ourselves from being overburdened by anxiety and restlessness, all we need to do is to go a little slow through our days. We have to slow down both on the physical and mental plane. For this, the best way is to practice mindfulness. It is about getting involved in the present moment. Whatever you are doing, you have to do it with complete consciousness. For example, if you are walking, you should try to feel how your feet touch the ground, the air around you, the different sounds you can hear, and so on. As you practice doing so, you’ll automatically slow down and enjoy a peaceful state of mind, which is good for your overall well-being.
Practice stress management techniques:
Stress is an inevitable part of life. We get exposed to stress daily, work stress, relationship stress, the pressure of shouldering household responsibilities well, etc. At times, our brain is in such a stressful state that we even start suffering from stress-induced physical problems such as headaches, muscle tensions, and upset stomachs. This implies that to maintain our overall well-being, we have to keep our stress levels managed not to get impacted by excessive stress. For this, you can try to practice some stress management techniques daily. Meditation, Deep breathing exercises, and mindfulness are examples of popular and effective stress management techniques. You can learn to practice them by watching YouTube videos. Even if you spend 10 to 20 minutes of your day on stress management, your health will get a significant boost over time.
Make some time to laugh:
Do you know that children laugh almost 400 times a day while adults laugh around only 15 times a day? Yes! This is true! It is as if we adults have forgotten to laugh. This is one of the biggest reasons we get exposed to various health problems like high blood pressure. So, one of the simplest ways to take care of our well-being is to take some time to laugh daily. We don’t have to wait for something to happen and make us laugh. Instead, we should try to create moments to laugh. For example, you can watch some stand-up comedies, funny videos or play with little children and make yourself laugh. Once you start creating moments for laughter, you’ll find yourself way happier and energetic than you are. As a result, your health will gradually improve.
Start listening to your body:
One of the biggest mistakes we make to ruin our health is that we don’t listen to our bodies. We believe in pushing our limits. Even when our body feels hungry or requires some rest, we ignore its needs and keep working. This negatively impacts our health over time, especially the deficiency of sleep. So, one of the thumb rules for maintaining your overall well-being is to start listening to your body. When you start feeling sleepy at night, don’t push yourself to continue working. Instead, you should try to go to sleep and then, after sleeping for at least 8 hours, you can carry on with your work in the morning. It may not be possible for you to do that every time as some tasks or deadlines may require you to stay awake even when you feel sleepy. But only compromise on your sleep only once in a while. It shouldn’t become your habit to do so as it is not suitable for your well-being.
Keep yourself hydrated:
Do you know that up to 60% of your body is water. As a result, it cannot function well without this wonder liquid of which it is made up of. This implies that you have to keep yourself hydrated to stay fit and healthy. You should drink an adequate amount of water every day. Now, you may ask, what is the proper amount of water you should have? According to the U.S. National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, adequate daily fluid intake is about 15.5 cups a day of fluid for men and 11.5 cups of liquid a day for women. Now, you have a clear idea about your body’s fluid requirements, so you should try to fulfill them every day.
Spend quality time with your family and friends:
Sweet doses of warmth from our family members and friends are crucial for our well-being. Without the lovely feeling of love, we cannot survive, isn’t it? So, you should try to spend quality time with your friends and family members despite your busy schedule. Make sure to sit with them, play with them, and dive into the feelings of love. If you cannot meet your friends, you can contact them via voice or video calls and have cordial conversations with them. This will help you stay emotionally healthy.
Without good health, we cannot live happily. So, while shouldering multiple responsibilities on the household and work front, we should also try to practice self-love by taking care of our well-being. The tips above may not work for all, but many of them can have profound effects on the health and wellness of people of all ages and abilities. Give it a try!
