I believe that healing and acceptance manifests itself through vision, collaboration, and the profound experience of feeling included
By Jennifer A. E. Healey
I vividly recall the first time I heard the name Josh Stanley, founder of Charlotte’s Web, a high-cannabidiol (CBD), low-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) strain marketed as a dietary supplement under federal law of the United States. I was lounging on the roof of The Lightworkers’ Mill in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania in 2014, talking with a friend about the intersection of music, health, and the healing power of CBD.
Produced by the Stanley brothers in Colorado, Charlotte’s Web CBD does not produce the high typically associated with recreational marijuana because it contains less than 0.3% THC. The Stanley brothers named their product after Charlotte Figi, whose parents and physicians confirmed that she experienced a reduction of her epileptic seizures after her first dose of CBD at the age of five.
My own interest in CBD began four years ago when I began exploring its benefits for those experiencing physical and mental health issues, including post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). While volunteering at VA Hospital in Martinsburg, Virginia, I observed the benefits of CBD in improving the health of veterans, helping to reduce their anxiety and depression, and as an aid in smoking cessation.
CBD has also helped me in combatting my own struggles with PTSD, addiction, weight-control, and trauma. I attribute both CBD and my own determination to the fact that I am no longer a slave to caffeine or nicotine, and have even managed to shed more than 50 pounds.
In addition to my own positive experience with CBD, I firmly believe that the transformative power of healing is present in the earth in places such as Mountain Sky , where people gather to share inclusive and healing community experiences. I believe that healing and acceptance manifests itself through the vision, collaboration, and efforts of women like Amy Pinder and Leah Barron who understand the profound impact of healing when people are more than just spectators, genuinely feeling included.
As founder of Healey Brand Hemp Company, I am dedicated to making Charlotte’s Web CBD available to others and am also proud to have it make its debut this summer at Inclusion Festival. It is my greatest pleasure to work with these incredibly visionary women and this group of artists and friends in cultivating a path to the future where music, health, and wellness converge in green pastures, where people of all abilities can share their talents, and where everything simply begins to Start Making Sense.
